Texas? Grapes? Yes!
Lone Star Wine Heritage
While you might not think it at first, Texas actually has an impressively long history of wine production dating as far back as 1845. Texas is the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the US, which includes the Texas Hill Country AVA as the third largest certified Viticultural Area in America, with well over 9 million acres of land. With new cellars, incubators, and promising grape varieties fueling a golden age of approachable yet quality wines, Texas is entering its best era of wine production yet.
Situated in the heart of this rising star region, Peters Prairie Vineyard is a small-lot producer specializing in Mediterranean varieties almost exclusively grown in our very own Mason County vineyard. Here, the dry climate and generous sunshine echo that of Old World winemaking countries such as Portugal and Italy, while the exceptional Hickory Sand soils of Mason County add a coveted Texas twist.
